Why do we allow predators, groomers, bullies, scammers to roam freely online shielded by the protection of anonymity?
We’ve said this before and it’s likely that as a parent, teacher or anyone working with children regularly you are fully aware of the fact that kids are spending more time online for both education and leisure purposes.
Knowing who your child is talking to online can be difficult, especially when you don’t want to invade their privacy. However, with growing numbers of predators using social media and online gaming to meet children, it’s naturally a concern for many parents, carers and teachers that children in their care are at risk of being groomed.
Last year a survey of teachers labelled the worsening crisis of mental health amongst schoolchildren as an “epidemic”. NHS figures published in May 2018, stated that almost 400,000 children and young people a year in England are being treated for mental health problems, the highest number ever!
